Diesel 10 is a character who features in the 2000 film Thomas and the Magic Railroad. He is voiced by Neil Crone.
Diesel 10 is based around the British Rail Class 42 diesel-hydraulic locomotives that came into service with British Railways in 1958. Unlike these diesels, Diesel 10 sports an ochre colour scheme and a large grabber named "Pinchy" on the roof. As his driver is never seen in the film, we must assume that Diesel 10 can move on his own free will. Interestingly Gordon remarks that "Diesel 10 is back!" and Thomas says "The blast from the past" suggesting that Diesel 10 has already been to the Island of Sodor and wreaked havoc.
In the film, it is said that Diesel 10 first came to the Island of Sodor to destroy a plum-coloured tank engine called Lady (voiced by Britt Allcroft). Diesel 10 was able to force Lady out of control and to crash. While Lady was hidden inside Muffle Mountain to be repaired, Diesel 10 went into hiding. When Lady returned to the Island, Diesel 10 returned to destroy her for good, but derailed on a derelict viaduct and was carried away on a barge. It was never made clear as to why he wished to destroy Lady or where Diesel 10 was taken.
In the sub-sequel, Calling All Engines, Diesel 10 has returned to Sodor and has been given a second chance. Using his grabber to clear lines blocked by debris, all the engines are too afraid to work with him until Diesel 10 agrees to help Thomas clear rubble at Sodor Airport. The narrator notes that Diesel 10 was grumpy, but he too liked to be useful.
