DigiDestined (Chosen Children in the Japanese version) is a name of a group in the anime and manga series Digimon.
DigiDestined is a term for children who are selected (some would say drafted) to protect the Digital World from the forces of evil. In Digimon Adventure and 02, a DigiDestined is defined by possession of a Digivice, and a link to a Digimon partner, in whom they can induce Digivolution. Apparently, only children who have seen Digimon before can become DigiDestined. By the time of the epilogue to the second season, almost everyone on Earth has a Digimon partner, though only few can be deemed as "DigiDestined".
Digimon Adventure / 02
In Digimon Adventure, the Digidestined were selected by unseen digital beings that wished to help the Digital World. It is unknown who selected the new children during the Digimon Adventure 02. It could be speculated that the aforementioned invisible lifeforms played a major part.Digimon Tamers
The main human characters of Digimon Tamers are referred to as "Tamers" rather than DigiDestined, except in English dub of the movie, Digimon Tamers: Battle of Adventurers, where Omnimon refers to the Tamers as DigiDestined.Digimon Frontier
DigiDestined returned in Digimon Frontier, when Ophanimon summoned many children from Earth to the Digital World. The DigiDestined stood revealed among them when their cell phones took on the form of D-Tectors.
