Digimon Frontier plot summary

Encyclopedia : D : DI : DIG : Digimon Frontier plot summary

This article provides a detailed plot summary for the anime series Digimon Frontier.

In the beginning

The biggest feature introduced in this season is "spirit evolution", where the Digi-destined themselves evolve into digimon to become Legendary Warriors. For this special kind of evolution, they use "spirits", artifacts created by the Ancient Warriors that were hidden in certain areas of the Digital World. When the characters first arrive in the Digital World their cellphones turn into digivices called D-Tectors. The two types of spirits are the "human spirits" and the "beast spirits." Another interesting detail lies in the way the children travel within the regions of the DigiWorld. Unlike the previous seasons, most areas are connected by railroads, where train digimon called "Trailmon" act as a means of transport.

Duskmon to Koichi

After defeating the four Legendary Warriors that serve Cherubimon, Koji discovers that Duskmon, the fifth evil Legendary Warrior, is really his estranged brother Koichi. With Takuya's help, Koji is able to free his brother from the spirit. Afterwards the Spirits of Darkness regain their true form, and Koichi can now become the true Warrior of Darkness, Löwemon, and joins the group.

Lucemon

After they defeat Cherubimon, the Digi-Destined learn that Lucemon, an ancient, evil, angel digimon whom the Anicent Warriors sealed away, was the one who was really behind it all. So now the Six Digi-Destined must defeat him and his two Royal Knights before they scan away all of the Digital World, which would allow Lucemon to be free.

Season finale

At the beginning of episode 50, End of the line, Lucemon is in his final mode, Satan mode, having beaten all 5 DigiDestined. They land at the train station where it all began and they were about to give up when the spirits of the Legendary Warriors came to life and encouraged them not to give up. The three celestial Digimon, Seraphimon, Ophanimon, and Cherubimon, also appeared in vision forms and informed everyone that Lucemon is evil without willpower and that they held the fate of the Digital World. All of the DigiDestined and Spirits unity Digivolve into Susanoomon and returned to fight.

They realized Lucemon has two parts in his current form: his external dragon form and an inner larvae-type form inside a sphere. They all attacked the latter, causing the former to go wild. Susanoomon formed a large sword and cuts the beast in half, releasing all the data into the Digital World. However, the inner form returned and continueed the fight. Susanoomon ejected the DigiDestined just in time, and then split up into its ten composite spirits. Using swords, they cut Lucemon up, destroying him.

The Legendary Warriors thanked the DigiDestined for everything and gradually, the Digital World returned to its full strength. The D-Tectors released data and the Digital World is slowly reborn. Strangely, the Legendary warriors even seem to have taken on some of the DigiDestineds' personality traits. To get the DigiDestined back to Earth in time, the spirits pushed the DigiDestined into a wormhole that Lucemon created before it closed. Upon returning, they realized no time has passed and they are back where they started. They all rushed off to save Koichi Kimura. The D-Tectors glowed and revived him, and then turned back into cell phones because their energy was gone. Everyone gathered around Koichi, who is fully revived. Everyone gets in a group hug, thoroughly overjoyed at Koichi's revival.
