Diner Dash is a game developed by PlayFirst, Inc.

It is the story of an entrepreneurial waitress (Flo) whose goal is to own her own diner. The worst kept secret of the casual game industry is that females are the dominant segment of it's audience. The story and the protagonist is targeted precisely to this demographic.

The game features an interesting game play mechanic of chaining together tasks with each task requiring a given amount of time. Customers line up and have mood meters above their heads that decrease with time. The restaurant has a limited capacity so some customers will be waiting in line and getting angrier by the minute. The priority is to turn over the customers as soon as possible and get the largest tips possible before the customers become angry and leave.

A typical task chain is to seat the customer, give them a menu, take their order, give the order to the cook, receive the food, deliver it to the table, give the customer the check, take the money, clear the dishes. With each task requiring a given number of seconds, you will end up juggling many different customers at different stages in the process. There are many upgrades that can be added to keep customers happy or increase customer capacity. In diner dash 2 there are also many different kinds of customers, some that don't like to be seated next to each other, like that annoying cell phone talker, or that family with the whiny baby!

This is much different from all the match 3 clone games that litter the casual game landscape. It has become something of a global phenomenon as the concept seems to be received well by many people in many cultures.^{[[Citing sources citation needed]]} It has also spawned many of its own clones such as Snowy's Lunch Rush, Mystic Inn, Cake Mania.^{[[Citing sources citation needed]]}
