Dirty Old Town

"Dirty Old Town" is a song written by Ewan McColl in 1949, and made popular by The Dubliners. Notable versions also exist from Rod Stewart (on his first album), The Pogues (on their second album, Rum, Sodomy And The Lash), Frank Black (on Fastman Raiderman), and U2 (sometimes briefly performed in concert). The song was written in reference to Salford, the town where he was brought up, and was originally written for an interlude during a scene change for a play set there.
Dirty Old Town is also a concert film by director Justin Mitchell documenting a day in the life of Ted Leo and the Pharmacists on Coney Island. The bulk of the footage is of the band's energetic performance at the Siren Music Festival, interspersed with interviews, boardwalk montages, and a cameo by comedian David Cross. This film is named after the song. Leo performs a live cover of this song at the beginning of the movie - a solo studio version appears on the Tell Balgeary, Balgury is Dead EP.
