Disability wannabes

One wishing to acquire a disability for narcissistic reasons and because they are attracted to people with disabilities.

The term "wannabe" is said to have emerged by the mid-1990s among people wishing to become amputees. It was selected because of its alliteration with "devotee" and "amputee," and because of the alarming and unhealthy appearance of psychological terms such as "apotemnophilia," "BIID (Body Integrity Identity Disorder)," et c.

By the early 200s, some wannabes had begun describing themselves as "transabled," a contraction of "transsexual" and "disabled."
