Darren Arthur Reed (born June 18, 1963), better known by his stage name Dizzy Reed, is the keyboardist for the hard rock band Guns N' Roses. He was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, in the United States. Reed has been a member of Guns N' Roses since 1990, playing on their blockbuster albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II. Aside from lead singer W. Axl Rose he is the only remaining member from the band's heyday.
He was also founder of the band The Wild and is keyboardist and lead singer for the cover band "Hookers & Blow." He was the guitarist of Johnny Crash after the orignal guitarist August Worchell left, but shortly afterward the band slipt up. He has been married to Lisa, an author and teacher, for almost 15 years. They have two children.
He is very well-known for his keyboard work in songs such as "November Rain", "Estranged" and some of the new tracks such as "I.R.S", "Madagascar", "Silkworms" and "The Blues". He is still with Axl Rose and the "new" GNR, but has been in a few side projects over time. Today, he continues playing with them live and record. At times he would play other instruments, such as the tambourine. Reed is also a fan of Larry Norman, a pioneer of Christian Music, in which he has played on Norman's Copper Wires album. He has now been a "gunner" (a member of Guns N' Roses) longer then any other member, besides Axl himself.
In 2005, his took the unusual step of seeking admission to a college fraternity well after the traditional age of inductees, and on 22 January 2006 was admitted to the Cornell University chapter of Zeta Psi.[link]
