Domnonia
Encyclopedia : D : DO : DOM : Domnonia
La Domnonée (lat. Domnonia) was an historic region of Brittany during the sixth century AD. Its name literally means Devon (Dumnonia), and the neighbouring region, Cornouaille was named after Cornwall (Cornouailles).
In Armorica, the kingdom was founded by Riwal, from Gwent in Wales. After 530, it included the future diocese of Léon.
In 1034, the term designated once more the comté of Penthièvre. The name disappeared shortly after.
