Don Narcisse

Encyclopedia : D : DO : DON : Don Narcisse

Donald "Don" Narcisse was a wide receiver with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League. He played college football at Texas Southern University. He signed with Saskatchewan as a free agent on September 1, 1987 after a free agent tryout with the NFL's Los Angeles Rams in 1987.

Don became one of the CFL's best receivers during his 13 season career. A smaller player at just 5'9" and 170 pounds, he was fast and had great hands. Catching many passes with ease, making some amazing catches. He set and held a few records, never being injured and giving consistent on field performances. However the Roughriders were usually an average team in the middle or bottom half of the standings. Always one of the most popular and respected players, he helped initiate the "Catch For Kids" program with Sask Energy in 1998. That same season, The Leader Post newspaper ranked Don as the 7th greatest Roughrider of all-time. He also won a Grey Cup with the Riders in 1989 and helped them reach the final again in 1997. He retired after the 1999 season, spending his entire career with the Roughriders. It is expected that he will soon be inducted into the CFL Hall of Fame.
