Early settler Robert Crawford (1799 to 1848) named his 2,000 acre (8 km²) grant after his home town in Scotland.
2000 Olympics
Blacktown City Olympic Park was built at Doonside to provide the venue for Olympic softball and 2nd venue for Olympic baseball during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. This baseball and softball stadium continues to be open to the public and is readily accessed via the M4 motorway or bus connection to the Cityrail station at DoonsideReferences
