Body of Work
- 1997-9: "The Illustrated Drew," a website with approximately 20 illustrated stories. The style of the illustrations were similar to the toothpaste for dinner illustrations, except somewhat more crudely drawn, and less refined. The stories themselves were similar to his writings at "Drew" and .net magazine, but seemed to be entirely true. Highlights include his adventures at "ghetto Kroger's." Published for a short time as a local zine, did not receive much exposure, online or off. Drew has not mentioned this site except in passing, and his thoughts on it are unknown, but presumably negative as he has not archived or linked to this content on his newer sites.
- 2000-2002: "Drew", a site where semi-true stories, with no illustrations, were posted daily.http://drew.corrupt.net "Drew" marked the beginning of Drew's rise to internet popularity, and in 2001, .net magazine picked up Drew's writing, running an exclusive weekly column consisting of 700-800 words and a small toothpaste for dinner-style illustration.http://www.netmag.co.uk/opinion/default.asp?subsectionid=500&subsubsectionid=185 Lasting from March 2001 to July 2005, Drew often claims that this is "the longest I've ever kept a job."
- 2001-present: toothpaste for dinner, the "most addictive comic on the web", according to Slate. This is Drew's first project which can legitimately be described as "popular," and its readership now totals some 450,000 unique visitors per month. Quirky, somewhat poorly-drawn illustrations reminiscent of "The Illustrated Drew."
- 2006-present: Married to the Sea A collaborative comic with wife Natalie Dee, utilizing carefully-edited Victorian era woodcuts next to captions. It is not known which or how many of the comics on Married to the Sea are Drew's as opposed to Natalie's. However, the site has already found popularity (its traffic is only slightly less than that of toothpaste for dinner) and has already spawned its own t-shirts.http://www.marriedtothesea.com/mtts-store.php
Privacy
Drew values his privacy greatly, and has indicated numerous times that he has no desire for people to "play internet detective and find out everything" about him. He has posted a long warning about people infringing on his privacy.http://www.toothpastefordinner.com/warning.phpReferences
