Dribble & Spitz

Encyclopedia : D : DR : DRI : Dribble & Spitz

Dribble & Spitz are fictional characters, developers in the WarioWare, Inc. series of video games, who speak with Bronx accents. They also work as cabbies, and their cab has the ability to go anywhere (even space). It is eventually revealed that Dr. Crygor designed the cab.

Description

Dribble is a large anthropomorphic bulldog with red hair (he wears a hat) who stands on his hind legs. He wears a blue jumpsuit with what appears to be a picture of a teddy bear on the back, and a green hat which bears his logo (a D with spots near the curved end, so it looks like a paw). He seems to be a stereotypical taxi driver: large, burly and gruff. In reality, he is quite calm and friendly, though perhaps not as intelligent (e.g., he forgot to collect a very large fare in ). He says his rank is space cadet, but Spitz is "lower than a space cadet" in his eyes.

Spitz is an anthropomorphic yellow cat who is about the same size as Kat & Ana. He is always squinting, and he wears goggles (pushed up over his forehead) and a blue jumpsuit which seems to be too big for him. He's good at jumping, and he is rather more intelligent than Dribble, though he didn't remember to collect the large fare in Mega Microgame$, either. He also seems to like to play, as in the instruction manual, he encourages Dribble to stop working and play a round of games with him.

It should be known that Dribble and Spitz may be an intentional wordplay on the term Kibbles 'n Bits, a popular pet food brand.

Dribble and Spitz also bear a passing resemblance to Sam and Max, both in appearance and personality.

Their Games

In the original Mega Microgame$, their genre theme is sci-fi, and while playing their microgames their theme tune ("Drifting Away") plays in the background. Four air fresheners resembling Spitz serve to mark the player's remaining chances. Their boss game is called Galaxy 2003, and is very similar to the arcade game Ikaruga.

Their game in Mega Party Game$ is Milky Way Delirium, in which the player (when it's his or her turn) gets to blast one of a 5-by-5 square of asteroids and mark them for him- or herself. In a manner similar to Othello if, a player sandwiches an opponent's asteroid(s) between his or her own asteroids, he or she can take the opponent's sandwiched asteroid(s) for him- or herself. To blast an asteroid, you need to play the number of microgames printed on the asteroid. The player who has captured the most asteroids must then fight the Robot. The robot will throw a microgame, which the player must complete. The catch? All of the opponent's asteroids obstruct the microgame. If the player defeats the Robot, he or she wins.

In , their microgames use both the gyro sensor and the A button.

Dribble & Spitz don't have a stage or games in , but they make a brief cameo appearance the end of Mike's stage, when Dr. Crygor takes Dribble and Spitz's cab to find Mike and take him home. Their cab can also sometimes be seen hovering above the Hawt House with Orbulon's Oinker. All new characters arrive on screen via the pair's cab as they are unlocked.
