Duane Kuiper

Duane Eugene Kuiper (born June 19, 1950 in Racine, Wisconsin) is a former second baseman in Major League Baseball for the Cleveland Indians (1974-1981) and San Francisco Giants (1982-1985).

A good fielder but light hitter, remembered for hitting only one home run in over 3300 at-bats. His career batting average was .271, about average in the league at the time, but his power was virtually non-existent. His only round tripper was against Steve Stone and it is on video because it was a nationally televised game. From time to time, the Giants telecasts will run the highlight to poke fun at Kuiper.

Kuiper holds the distinction as being the only major League ball player to hit two bases-loaded triples in a game, July 27, 1978 at Yankee Stadium.

Kuiper is currently a radio and television sportscaster for the San Francisco Giants, and is part of the duo known as "Kruk and Kuip" along with Mike Krukow. He is the play-by-play broadcaster for games on FSN Bay Area . Both Krukow and Kuiper can be heard in the Electronic Arts video game MVP Baseball 2005.

Kuiper's trademark home run call (usually when Barry Bonds homers) is "Bonds hits it high... hits it deep...OUTTA HERE!"

Kuiper is a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.
