Dudley Fitts

Dudley Fitts (April 28 1903-July 10 1968) was an American teacher, critic, poet, and translator of classical Greek works into contemporary English.

He was born in Boston, Massachusetts and attended Harvard University where he edited the Harvard Advocate. He taught for many years at Phillips Academy at Andover. While a teacher he translated parts of the Oedipus Cycle with Robert Fitzgerald. Their translations were praised for their clarity and poetic quality.

He died in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
