ELH is an academic journal founded in 1934 and devoted to the study of major works in the English language, particularly American literature. It covers developments in literature through historical, critical, and theoretical methods. It is well regarded for its consistently high quality scholarship. The current editor is Dr. Jonathan Goldberg of the Johns Hopkins University.
The journal is published quarterly in March, June, September, and December. The circulation is 1,568 and the average length of an issue is 256 pages.
