Eagleview Middle School (commonly abbreviated EMS or referred to simply as Eagleview) is a middle school located in northwestern Colorado Springs, Colorado serving grades 6 through 8. The school is one of the middle schools in Academy School District 20 (the others being Challenger Middle School, Mountain Ridge Middle School, and Timberview Middle School) and primarily serves students in northwestern Colorado Springs, even though students living elsewhere in the district can choose to attend Eagleview should their assigned schools not fit their needs. Eagleview's school colors are silver and burgundy while its mascot is the eagle. It had 1,109 enrolled students during the 2003-2004 school year and feeds into Air Academy High School.

Administration

The administration at Eagleview Middle School consists of three principals, each running a grade level. They rotate as the classes move up in grade.

Classes

Classes begin at 7:50 a.m. and end at 2:45 p.m. There are two types of classes at Eagleview: core classes and exploratories.

Core classes

There are four core classes every student is required to take at every grade level:

Exploratories

"Exploratories," as they are referred to at Eagleview Middle School, consist of two classes that students take at times during the day. They begin at 1:15 p.m. for sixth graders, 10:05 a.m. for seventh graders, and at 7:50 a.m. for eighth graders. Exploratories cover a variety of topics, including art, drama, foreign languages (Spanish or French), industrial technology, music, physical education, and publication.

Eighth graders can choose to take assistant exploratories in which they can choose to help staff members in the attendance office, counseling office, severe/special needs (SSN) area, or in the adjacent preschool.

Extracurricular activities

Students can participate in a variety of activities before and after school, including athletics and academic competitions. Eagleview offers basketball, football, softball, track, cross country running, volleyball, wrestling, and tennis. All sports are coached by teachers.

Academic extracurricular activities are also offered at Eagleview. Among them are forensics, Science Olympiad, MathCounts, and occasional spelling bee practices.

Honor rolls

There are three honor rolls: the Principal's Honor Roll, Merit Honor Roll, and Honorable Mention Honor Roll. Each are published in the monthly school newsletter (which up until the 2005-2006 school year was distributed throughout the school; it is now entirely Web-based in Portable Document Format).
