East High School is the largest of three public secondary schools in Duluth, Minnesota. It educates students in grades nine through twelve. It first opened its doors in 1927, as a junior high school. In 1950, it became a senior high school to serve the growing student population.
Situated in a residential neighborhood in eastern Duluth, Duluth East currently serves about 1,430 students.

The School Song, The Birchen
Duluth East’s school song is The Birchen. Students are strongly encouraged to learn the lyrics of the song in order to show enthusiastic school spirit at games and assemblies. The lyrics of the song are as follows.
- East High Rah-Rah-Rah,
- With a Sis-boom-bah,

- Brave and strong we promise to be!

Extracurricular Activities
Duluth East High School has a large variety of extracurricular activities that students can join. These activities include academic teams, service organizations, and athletic teams.Athletic Teams
Duluth East boasts a wide variety of athletic teams. All of these teams compete with other schools and thus, are governed by the regulations of the Minnesota State High School League. The athletic teams include:
