Ed Leigh
Born: 15 July, 1975
Hometown: Brighton
Height: 185 cm or 6ft. 0in.
Weight: 79 kg or 158lbs.
At 30 he possesses the cool and charm of a man who is widely regarded as the first choice presenter and commentator for free sports events in the UK, coupled with a wide eyed enthusiasm for all that is juvenile, ridiculous and potentially painful. He’ll push himself to the physical limits to beat Spencer at any challenge thrown his way, and relishes any opportunity to humiliate his long suffering best friend. He is affable, funny, attractive and ultimately a lying; loveable, disorganised cheat who will do whatever it takes to win. In one word- shameless.
Currently a presenter on Freesports on 4, his portfolio includes presenting for MTV Snowball, Channel 4, Channel 5 and commentary for BBC Grandstand. 2003 kicked off with Ed presenting ‘Trailer Park’ on the newly launched TV channel CNX, alongside Christian Stevenson, his long-time collaborator. The duo went on to present a series for the Extreme Channel throughout September and October. Their talents also extend to radio broadcasting with their weekly show The Rockcopter on TotalRock digital radio; a mix of outlandish humours and rock music old and new.
Previous to his broadcast career, Ed centred his efforts on Laughing Gear, a commentary and cabaret company set up with Christian. An intricate knowledge of the sports world and madcap off-the-cuff comedy has established them as a totally unique commodity in the events market.
Events covered include Creamfields, The Playstation Experience, Manchester Totally Board, Newquay Surf Festival and London’s Board X to name a few.
Ed cut his teeth in the world of journalism, starting out as Editor of White Lines Snowboard Magazine. He has since gone on to become a regular contributor to Loaded and Manchester’s City Life as well as FHM, Big Brother and Snowboarder. He now holds the position of Field and Events Editor for Onboard European Snowboard Magazine and Kingpin European Skate Magazine.Having been a professional snowboarder for 5 years, a skater since the age of 9, a surfer and a windsurfer, Ed has a close association with the sports and the personalities involved. Having worked within the media for ten years Ed is also gifted at communicating the values of the sport on both core and layman’s terms and this has led to work as an accomplished voiceover artist and corporate youth culture consultant.
