Edric (Dune)

Edric is a fictional character in the Dune universe created by Frank Herbert. He is a navigator of the Spacing Guild. In the novel Dune Messiah, Edric participates in the conspiracy to topple the rule of Paul Atreides. By his fellow conspirators he is considered comparatively unintelligent and his presence is only required because it prevents Muad'Dib from seeing the conspirators in his prescience. Like all Guild navigators, his body is mutated due to heavy use of spice: he has webbed hands and feet, is distinctly fish-like in appearance, and must live in a tank of melange gas.

After Paul was blinded by a stone burner at the end of Dune Messiah (an action engineered by the conspiracy), an action which eventually led to his walking into the desert to die, Edric is executed along with the other conspirators.

Edric is depicted as a large whale like creature in the movie Dune.
