Edward A. Burkhalter Jr. (born in Roanoke) was a United States Navy vice admiral. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated in 1951.

Burkhalter's Navy career was in intelligence and he served as Chief of Naval Intelligence, Defense Intelligence Agency Chief of Staff, and Director of the CIA Community Intelligence Staff.
