Egg custard is a baked dish made from mixing eggs, sweetener, and milk, often with strong flavorings such as vanilla or anisette.

Egg custard, in one form or another, is eaten in many parts of the world. In Appalachia an egg custard usually is sweetened with a mixture of corn syrup and molasses with the flavoring relying upon bourbon or sweetcorn for teetotalers. In Latin American cuisine an egg custard dish with gelatin is baked in the shape of a pie and is called flan. In the UK, likewise, it is usually eaten in an open pastry case, and called an egg custard tart.
