The Eiger is the most famous mountain in the Swiss Alps. It is considered to be a very difficult, dangerous climb. The North Face of Eiger (Eiger Nordwand), with its 6000 foot vertical climb over crumbling limestone and black ice, has claimed the lives of more than 60 climbers since the first successful climb in 1938.
