El Cid is a 1961 film which was a highly romanticized story of the life of the Castilian knight El Cid. It starred Charlton Heston and Sophia Loren and was directed by Anthony Mann.
It was shot in Spain. The castle and beach of Peníscola appear as Medieval Valencia.
