Electrabel (Euronext: [ELEB]
Electrabel was founded in 1990 when Intercom, Ebes and Unerg merged to form the present company. For a long time the French company SUEZ held a slight majority stake in Electrabel, but in 2005 that stake increased to 96.7%. The rest of the stock remains tradable at Euronext, but Electrabel is since then removed from the BEL20.
Power plants
The larger power plants that Electrabel owns are:- The Eemscentrale in the Netherlands, a combined cycle gas turbine plant with a generation capacity of 1705 MW.
- Doel and Tihange in Belgium, both nuclear power plants with a capacity of 2736.9 MW and 2423.1 MW respectively.
- The Coo-Trois-Ponts, a pumped storage hydroelectricity plant in Belgium, with a total capacity of 1307 MW.
- Dunamenti in Hungary, a thermal power plant with a capacity of 1238.4 MW.
