Story

The OVA story, or episode 10.5, mostly focuses on Nana, who attempts to adjust to her new life at the Kaede Inn. Though she tries hard to be useful in performing household activities like cooking, she keeps messing up at everything. Though Mayu gives her company to cheer her up every time that she commits a mistake and to advise her on how to handle each chore with caution, it is Mayu herself who ends up cleaning the mess.

Upon watching how Nana becomes depressed with her failures, Mayu engages in a private conversation with Kouta and Yuka to discuss what would be the most suitable task for Nana to carry out. She then suggests that Nana and Nyū be paired with each other to accomplish assignments together, since all three of them have noticed that Nana continues to be on bad terms with Nyū and want to mend that strain between the two Diclonius girls. Mayu notifies Nana that she will be working with Nyū, but the Silpelit does not seem enthusiastic about the idea. After having second thoughts, Nana encourages herself and decides to make team with Nyū. After all, Nana is viewing the teamwork as a competition test to prove to Lucy that she's (Nana's) a more capable Diclonius.

Nana and Nyū start with mopping the floors and cleaning the windows, but Nana's recklessness gets the better of her which soon causes accidents that end up with disastrous but funny results. Nana has had enough and complains that she dislikes to do the cleaning, stating that she will not do anymore. Kouta berates her, saying that she has to help in the house if she wants to stay. This prompts her to storm off from the inn undignified.

As she walks by, Nana ponders whether or not it is a good idea to get used to the life of a civilian. She stops when she hears Bandō threatening a couple for dumping thrash in the beach. Once he has calmed down, Nana approaches Bandō to tell him that she has found a home, but the mercenary is more concerned in finding Lucy to make the psychotic Diclonius pay him retribution for his lost eyes and arm. By accident Nana admits that she knows where Lucy is hiding, though she doesn't reveal outright the specific location. This prompts Bandō to threaten Nana with a gun, but she makes a deal with him that she'll bring Lucy to the beach so that he can dispose of her.

The second part of the OVA story, which is the highlight, involves both Lucy and Kurama reminiscing the events that lead to Lucy's capture and her transfer to the research facility. The flashback is exposed by integrating the memories of both Lucy and Kurama. In addition, Nana is troubled on deciding whether or not she will deliver Lucy to Bandō due to the fact that, because of Nyū, she is ambivalent concerning her disposition toward Lucy.

Nana returns to the inn and asks permission to take Nyū along with her for a walk. As it starts to rain, Nyū slips on the wet road and falls, beating her head and falling unconscious. Nana takes Nyū to a secluded place to use as a shelter to protect themselves from getting wet. It is now when Lucy's personality emerges but remains unconscious and delirious In addition, she also suffers from a slight fever. Meanwhile, at the island compund, Kurama starts to gather memories of a past event at the same time that Lucy does.

Five years after Lucy slaughtered Kouta's family (three years prior to the start of the main story), she has kept a low profile of herself and has been hiding somewhere in Kamakura. Professor Kakuzawa is discussing with Kurama about the recent wave of unexplained homicides that have been occurring in that area during the previous years. Kurama then shows him a photo of a child Lucy and replies to him that he has found her, who is referred to as the devil that will cast the fall of the human race. Preparations have been issued for her capture, and intelligence has already reported to Kurama the exact location of her hiding place. A solemn Kurama comments that her capture "will put an end to this".

A pubert Lucy is hiding inside a warehouse along with a homeless girl named AikoThe editor's note for volume 10 of the Elfen Lied manga has a message from Lynn Okamoto himself officially disclosing the name of Lucy's friend to be Aiko Takada (高田愛子) in chapter 85. Most of this chapter was adapted for the OVA and involved Lucy's flashback about her friend, since the girl's name is never mentioned in the OVA.. The human girl is hopeless, knowing for sure that the police will come for them and find them. Not wanting to see her depressed, Lucy uses her vectors to levitate some stuffed toys to entertain her. Aiko is overjoyed and is entertained by the show that Lucy is putting on for her. After, they promise to each other that when Aiko gets out of jail, she will come to seek Lucy. Although the crime committed was never explained in detail, it is certain that Aiko will hand herself to the authorities for Lucy's sake. Aiko later asks Lucy if she wants to become her friend, with Lucy showing a bit of doubt. She then shows Aiko her horns and asks if she's willing to accept her despite her (Lucy's) condition. Aiko replies that she doesn't care who she (Lucy) is and gives her a kiss on the cheek, which makes Lucy blush. Lucy then comes to understand that Aiko is the second human that has given her both love and acceptance.

Unfortunately, their tender moment is interrupted by the arrival of Kurama, Kakuzawa Yū, and a squad of SAT officers who position their guns at both girls. Kakuzawa remarks that there are two Diclonius and not just one, but Kurama is uncertain whether or not the other girl is a Diclonius. It is unsure whether or not Aiko is a Diclonius because she has her head covered and thus raises suspicions about the validity of her human condition. Kakuzawa orders the officials to open fire anyway, abiding to the old phrase "kill or be killed". The whole squad shoots, but Lucy stops all the bullets in mid-air with her vectors while hugging a terrified Aiko. The Diclonius then counters by throwing boxes at and dropping shelves on the unsuspecting humans, revealing to Kurama and Kakuzawa that she's the Queen Diclonius that they have been looking for.

As Lucy keeps herself busy fending the intruders off, a sniper manages to sneak undetected from the left side. Aiko sees him and quickly acts on reflex by pushing Lucy away, leading to her receiving the shot instead of Lucy. Aiko tumbles and falls seemingly dead on a puddle of her own blood much to Lucy's dismay and shock. Rather than fighting back, Lucy lets out a painful scream. The humans have her cornered, and Kurama tells her that her kind have no place in this world. He then quickly realizes that, to his surprise, the fallen girl has no horns. He makes a deal with Lucy that if she quietly surrenders, then he promises to do anything within his reach to save Aiko's life. Although aware that she's most likely being deceived, Lucy has no other choice left and agrees to Kurama's deal. She is then subdued without resistance.

A couple of days later, Kurama pays a visit to Lucy's cage to inform her that Aiko, the girl, has died. He apologizes to Lucy for not being able to save her. Lucy remains completely immobile with her body strapped in a strait-jacket and her head covered in an armored helmet. She's positioned at the center of the cage, which was built out of her vectors' range. The terrible news from Kurama was the most devastating blow on the Diclonius's morale, and it sparked the beginning of her wretched hatred of Kurama. Having been told by Kurama himself that both his wife and daughter died, Lucy taunts him by saying that she will not kill him. She says that someday, however, she will murder those close to him to make him suffer what she has felt.

Back to the present time, Kurama still has those words carved in his mind and vows to not allow Lucy to do as she pleases with Mariko. The rain stops, and Nyū wakes up seemingly recovered from her fever. Nana then realizes that both Lucy and Nyū are totally different people, and she chooses not to hand Nyū to Bandō. Bandō, who has been waiting by the beach, is pissed off because he believes that Nana has deceived him. Back at the Kaede Inn, Nana is finally assigned the most suitable job, much to her joy and pleasure; she is to feed Wanta, the dog.
