Encyclopedia : E : EL : ELF : Elfriede Motzkuhn

Elfriede Motzkuhn was a guard at two concentration camps during World War II.

She was born as Elfriede Kukulies on March 23 1917 in Tawe, East Prussia, Germany. In 1944 she applied with the SS, and was accepted as an official member. She was then sent to the Buchenwald concentration camp to be trained as a camp guard. She later served as an Aufseherin in the Essen subcamp, in western Germany. In April 1945, as Essen was evacuated, Elfriede walked away from the camp and went back home to Tawe. She was never arrested, charged, or imprisoned for war crimes, and her fate is unknown.
