Ella and Basie!
Encyclopedia : E : EL : ELL : Ella and Basie!
Ella and Basie! is a 1963 (see 1963 in music) studio album by the American Jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald, accompanied by the Count Basie Orchestra, with arrangements by Quincy Jones.
Surprisingly, Ella and the Basie band had only recorded together once before, on the 1957 album One o'Clock Jump.
This album was the only time that Fitzgerald and Jones worked together.
This album is revered alongside Clap Hands, Here Comes Charlie!, Sings Songs from Let No Man Write My Epitaph, Sings the George and Ira Gershwin Songbook and Ella in Hollywood as one of Ella's greatest recordings.
