Elliot Goldenthal

Elliot Goldenthal, born on May 2 1954, in Brooklyn, New York City, is an American composer of contemporary music and has written works for concert hall, theater, dance and film. Having been a student of both Aaron Copland and John Corigliano, Goldenthal is best known for his ability to blend various musical styles and techniques in original ways.

His work includes music for films such as Alien³, Michael Collins, Heat and the Academy Award-winning score for Julie Taymor's Frida.

The Tony-Award winning carnival mass "Juan Darièn" (1988) and "The Green Bird", based on a story by Carlo Gozzi, are some of the composers theater works.

He currently lives in New York City with his partner, Julie Taymor.
