Emona

For the village of the same name in Bulgaria, see Emona (Burgas).
Emona or Aemona was a Roman city in the region of modern Ljubljana in Slovenia. It became important at the end of first century BC at the crossroads of important arteries of communication. The city is mentioned in the legend of the Argonauts.

Emona was the capital of the district of the upper valley of the Sava river.

In 388, the army of Roman usurper Magnus Maximus were defeated close to Emona, in the Battle of the Save.
