Enantiostasis
Encyclopedia : E : EN : ENA : Enantiostasis
Enantiostasis is the ability of an open system, especially a living organism, to stabilize and conserve function in spite of an unstable environment.
Unlike in homeostasis, where the internal state (such as metabolic and physiological function) is carefully maintained throughout, systems undergoing enantiostasis alter their internal state, but continue to fulfill their function.
The term enantiostasis is derived from the Greek enantios (opposite, opposing, over against) and stasis (to stand, posture).
