History
Engenio Information Technologies, Inc was originally the NCR Wichita Storage Division of NCR Corporation, before NCR's takeover by AT&T in 1991. In 1995 NCR sold the division to South Korea's Hyundai where it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyundai Electronics America. The division became known as Symbios, Inc. Hyundai attempted to sell Symbios to Adaptec in 1998, but ran afoul of US FTC antitrust concerns. Later in 1998 Hyundai sold Symbios to LSI Logic where it was renamed Engenio Information Technologies, Inc. In February 2004, Engenio announced an intent to go public, but as of late 2005 these plans had not materialized.Engenio has been a major contributor to the original SCSI standard and its evolution.

In June of 2004, Engenio CEO Tom Georgens backed off an IPO, which many thought to be a wrong decision. However, the next year Georgens was quoted as saying that he still backed the decision, however was looking forward to doing it all again. [media]While no decisions have been made recently, Engenio management hopes to attempt to go public within the next few years.
