The Ethan Allen Express is a 241-mile (388 km) passenger train operated by Amtrak between New York City and Rutland, Vermont. The 241-mile trip is currently completed in a scheduled 5.5 hours. Its operations are subsidized by the State of Vermont, and the train is popular among vacationers travelling to the ski resort area of Killington.

The Ethan Allen Express is named for American Revolutionary War hero Ethan Allen.

Route details

The tracks used were originally part of the New York Central Railroad and Delaware and Hudson Railroad systems. The following lines are used:

The Ethan Allen Express runs northbound as trains 291 (Saturday to Thursday) and 293 (Friday), and southbound as trains 292 (Monday), 294 (Tuesday to Friday) and 296 (weekends). It makes the following station stops:
