Excalibur (nightclub)
Encyclopedia : E : EX : EXC : Excalibur (nightclub)
The Excalibur nightclub in Chicago was first opened in 1989. It is located in the former Chicago Historical Society building which is an official Chicago historical landmark. The building was constructed in 1892 and designed by Henry Ives Cobb. The building is said to be haunted. Lately the Excalibur portion of the club has been scaled back and the majority of the space in the building is now devoted to the sister nightclub, "Vision."
The "Romanesque revival" architecture of the building lends itself to the nominally medieval theme of the nightclub and blends well with the decor of "Excalibur" and with the gothic fog and candles effects used in some of the areas at "Vision."
