Expediency Discernment Council

The Expediency Discernment Council of the System (Persian: مجمع تشخیص مصلحت نظام), is an establishment in the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Iran. Its purpose is to resolve differences or conflicts between the Majlis and the Council of Guardians, and also to serve as a consultative council to the Supreme Leader.
As of 1998, the council is headed by Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani. All members of this council are directly assigned by the Supreme Leader.
The current secretary of the council is General Mohsen Rezaee.
