Export Credits Guarantee Department

The Export Credits Guarantee Department (ECGD) is a department of the British government. It is an export credit agency, which means that it provides 'export credits guarantees' to industry - it underwrites that the countries they are selling to will be able to pay. It reports to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.
