FIA General Assembly

The FIA General Assembly is the supreme governing body of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile. It consists of the presidents of each of the FIA's member clubs and national organizations. Its one scheduled annual meeting is entitled the "Ordinary General Assembly"; in addition, the Assembly or the FIA President may call an "Extraordinary General Assembly" if necessary.

The General Assembly's responsibilities in the administration of the FIA are:

  1. Determining the location of the FIA Headquarters, currently at 8, Place de la Concorde, Paris, France
  2. Approving the annual reports of the World Motor Sport Council and World Council for Mobility and the Automobile
  3. Approving the Fédération's accounts from the previous year and budget for the next year
  4. Electing the following Fédération officers, each for a term of four years, by absolute majority:
  5. * FIA President
  6. * President of the FIA Senate
  7. * FIA Deputy President for Mobility and the Automobile
  8. * FIA Deputy President for Sport
  9. * Seven Vice Presidents of the FIA for Mobility and the Automobile
  10. * Seven Vice Presidents of the FIA for Sport
  11. * Five of the ten members of the FIA Senate (the other five are members ex officio or by right)
  12. Electing the seventeen members of the World Council for Mobility and the Automobile and the fourteen members of the World Motor Sport Council by simple majority to four-year terms
  13. Electing one-third of the Titular members and one-third of the Deputy members of the FIA International Court of Appeal by simple majority to one-year terms
  14. Electing the Secretary-General of the International Court of Appeal by simple majoity to a four-year term
  15. Electing the members of the FIA Sporting Commissions on the recommendation of the World Motor Sport Council and the members of the FIA International Historic Commission on the recommendation of the Senate by simple majority to one-year terms
  16. Approving the International Sporting Calendar, proposed by the World Motor Sport Council, by simple majority
  17. Approving modifications to the FIA Statutes by simple majority, admitting new members, and expelling or sactioning present members
  18. Approving the Internal Regulations of the FIA
  19. Modifying the International Sporting Code at the suggestion of the World Motor Sport Council
  20. Electing the three members of the FIA Audit Committee to one-year terms
  21. Approving the Audit Committee's Specific Internal Regulations
