Falakata is a census town in Jalpaiguri district in the state of West Bengal, India.

Geography

Falakata is located at [26.53° N 89.2° E][Falling Rain Genomics, Inc - Falakata]. It has an average elevation of 88 metres (288 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census^{[Geographic references#IndiaGRIndia]}, Falakata had a population of 18,801. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Falakata has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81%, and female literacy is 71%. In Falakata, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
