The Falange Española Tradicionalista de las Juntas de Ofensiva Nacional-Sindicalista (FET y de las JONS; Traditional Spanish Falange and of the Juntas of National-Syndicalist Offensive) was the official political party founded by Francisco Franco April 19, 1937 in the midst of the Spanish Civil War, formed through the merger of his Falange Española de las Juntas de Ofensiva Nacional-Sindicalista and the traditionalists. After his military victory in 1939, it became the sole legal political party of Spain.
In 1970, it was renamed Movimiento Nacional (National Movement), which had been its most-used inofficial name for some decades at that point. After the end of Franco's rule, the movement disbanded; a number of small ultra-right groups in modern Spain still claim to be its successor.
