Fan mail
Encyclopedia : F : FA : FAN : Fan mail
- See Fanmail (album) for the 1999 TLC album.
Fan mails may be in the form of letters, cards, artworks, gifts, and so on; depending on the recipient, it may also be possible to send fan mails via email. The contents of the fan mails may also vary greatly from simple autograph requests to actual marriage proposals.
Since a major celebrity may receive thousands of fan mails every day, it is usually impossible for him/her to reply or read them all; his/her manager often has the duty of canvassing the incoming mail. Normally fan mails should be sent to the office of the celebrity's management; to send fan mails to his or her private address (unless he/she knows the sender personally) is not only difficult (as most celebrities attempt to keep their home addresses secret), but is also inappropriate (as this would be considered a form of stalking).
