Fandub
Encyclopedia : F : FA : FAN : Fandub
Fandub (short for "fan dubbed") is a copy of a foreign movie or television show which has been dubbed by "fans" into their native language. The most fan dubbed shows are mostly Japanese Anime like Sailor Moon or Sonic X when fans take a raw (Japanese language) anime series and dub it themselves.
Fandubs are generally avoided by the anime community at large due to problems with the quality of both the voice acting and the translations themselves, Fansubs are usually the preferred medium. However, fandubs are a popular medium for parody, particularly for anime.
Copyright implications for Fandubs are very similar to Fansubs except the difference of scale, see Fansub for a detailed explanation of the legal and ethical issues with this type of distribution. Some disagree with this and say that fandubs are not to be made or distributed, in fact some bittorrent providers don't even allow fandubs to be put on their site like [Animesuki]or [Scarywater]
