Plot
During World War II, South Pacific beachcomber Walter Eckland (Grant) is persuaded to spy on planes passing over his island. He gets more than he bargained for as schoolteacher Catherine Frenau (Caron) arrives on the run from the Japanese with her young pupils in tow.Awards
The movie won the Oscar for Best Writing, Story and Screenplay, which was written directly for the screen by S.H. Barnett, Peter Stone & Frank Tarloff. The movie was also nominated Best Film Editing & Best Sound at the Academy Awards.The movie was Nominated for the 1965 Golden Globe Best Motion Picture - Musical/Comedy award.
