Fayette is the name of a number of places in the United States of America. Many are named for the Marquis de la Fayette (or Marquis de Lafayette), French nobleman who fought along with General George Washington in the American Revolutionary War. Other places named for him are designated Fayetteville, La Fayette, or Lafayette.
