Felicia (Darkstalkers)
Encyclopedia : F : FE : FEL : Felicia (Darkstalkers)
Felicia is a video game character created by Capcom. She is from the Darkstalkers series of fighting games, and is a catgirl with tan skin, blue-purple hair, white fur and pink claws.
According to her official biography, Felicia was born in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1967. She stands 1.68 m (5 ft 5 in) and weighs 58 kg (128 lb) or, in cat form, 4.1 kg (9 lb). Her three sizes are 88 cm (35 in), 61 cm (24 in), and 87 cm (34 in). She likes singing, performing, and cats, and dislikes mean people.
Background
Felicia was raised by a Catholic nun named Rose. When Rose died, Felicia left her town hoping to be a musical star. During her travels, she met many other catgirls of her kind. With her newfound friends, she set out for her dream of being on stage. Eventually, she and her friends started a musical with Felicia being the main star.In the events of Darkstalkers 3, she wondered about how she could make others happy. In the end, Felicia became a nun herself and founded an orphanage named "Felicity House."
The Catwoman race
The existence of a semi-human race called Cat-women was something shocking for humans. Although a huge panic did not occur right away. The loving look that they had soothed people's rejection to them. The look that people gave them was a look of interest in a rare animal instead of that of a monster. In America, the public voiced their opinion about how the Cat-women should be recognised and respected. Soon, they were given fundamental human rights. But the prejudice didn't completely disappear. A musical that starred Felicia was looked on simply as an exhibition. But once they had seen Felicia's dance and her lovely voice, the fact of being human or cat-woman made no difference. Felicia's loving personality was able to cleanse the dark hearts of humans, for the most part.
The cat-women race are born as normal human babies. But around the age of 4-10, they would start to grow body hair, ears, and tails. And although their are individual differences, they have the ability to transform. This ability allows them to hide their limbs and tails and look like a normal human to avoid attention. Their sense of smell is several times more sensitive than that of a human. They often use this sense of smell to find other Cat-women. They also dislike strong sunlight and usually act at night.
As the name suggests, their are no men in the Cat-women race. There have been Cat-women who married human men but their child is born as an ordinary human. At the present moment, they have no means to giving birth to any more Cat-women. Most likely, the existence of the male race (Cat-men?) cannot exist in the human world.
Felicia's Friends
When playing as Felicia, players are able to perform a special move that summons several other Cat-women to Felicia's aid. Although they are not named in the game at all, they each have unqiue origins and names. They are as follows:
- Pico: A child with braided hair. Comes out when LK and MK is used for "Please Help Me". She is 14 years old (7 years old in the human age). Born in Minnesota, America. She used to live in an orphanage but, after she saw Felicia's stage performance, she left her orphanage to seek out Felicia. She found out she was a Cat-woman after she met Felicia. She is full of curiosity and fears nothing.
- Alto: A child with a ribbon, she appears during "Dark Force". She is 20 years old (10 years in human age). It's unknown where she was born. She was kept as rare pet by a rich man but escaped soon after. She briefly lived in a mountonous area, but was saved by Grace (See Below). She is very shy and afraid of strangers. She was named 'Alto' by Grace.

- Grace: Tall with a pony-tail. 48 years old(24 years in human age). Born in Utah, she is the guardian of Alto. She is incredibly skilled at donning a human appearance and can stay in that form the longest. She is like a mother to Alto and likes to take care of others.
- Lucy: Tallone with a bandanna. 36 years old(18 in human age). Born in Virginia, she used to work under a circus. When one of her few understanding human friend died of a sickness, she left the circus. While she was wandering, she met Felicia. She's very cynical and likes to cynical remarks. She is the strongest out of the group.
Other appearances
Anime
The anime version of Felicia is currently clawing her way up the rock star ladder, already having a certain amount of success under her furry belt, and just starting a tour in the human world. Her tour gets off to a rough start as she gets embroiled in the growing human/Darkstalker war, spurned by the arrival of Pyron and the Huitzil robots. She is captured by a human paramilitary group, but escapes with the help of some other humans who are fans of hers. In the end, she saves the people of a small town from a Huitzil attack, with the reluctant help of Jon Talbain.UDON Comics
In the UDON Comics version of Darkstalkers, Felicia is still looking for her big break into stardom; unfortunately being a catgirl proves to be a very large road block on the path to fame. Along the way, she runs into the werewolf, Jon Talbain who believes that humans are treacherous and vile, while she thinks that the current hatred between humans and Darkstalkers are just a few "bumps in the road." Despite the fact that his interference costs her a potential gig, Felicia asks Jon to accompany her, so that she can try to prove to him that humanity is not all bad. Eventually, they end up at the orphanage where Felicia grew up.American Cartoon
Felicia was the main hero in the American cartoon series. She was perhaps the least altered, though her breasts were considerably downsized and she appeared to wear a bra instead of patches of fur. She was accompanied by Harry Grimoire, a kid whose purpose (aside from a plot device) was mainly to get Felicia into trouble. She's also stated to be several hundred years old in this version (in fact, she got stuck with Harry when she went looking for an ancestor of his). Her dreams of being a singer are never mentioned.Trivia
- Felicia is 5 ft., 6 in. tall and weighs 128 lb.
- Felicia's birthdate, 1967, coincides with the release of a poem called "Curse of the Cat Woman" by Edward Field.
- Until the inclusion of Baby Bonnie Hood, Felicia was the youngest character in the series, and the manuals consistently reference her as a "teen dreamer."
- In the Darkstalkers series, catwomen are (as the name implies) a race made up entirely of females. It is speculated that males may exist, but if that is the case, none are found on Earth. If a catwoman mates with a human, the child is a catwoman by default.
- In her ending in Darkstalkers, Felicia wonders if Blanka will be her lead man. This was most likely a joke. The reference to Blanka does not exist in the Japanese version.
- Felicia makes a cameo appearance in Ken's stage on Street Fighter Alpha 2.
- Felicia is a playable character in Pocket Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Puzzle Fighter, Capcom Fighting Evolution, SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium and Namco x Capcom, and is a playable card in both SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash and SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash 2.
- In Namco x Capcom, Felicia teams up with King II from Tekken. Of the several two-character teams in the game, this is the only one to include both a Namco character and a Capcom character.
- In Namco x Capcom, Sakura is ecstatic about seeing Felicia and wonder's upon first coming to her aid if she can get an autograph later.
- Felicia has been voiced by Kae Araki since the beginning.
- In the UDON comic, the name of the nun that ran the orphanage is "Cecilia", and she's still alive.
- Felicia is second to Morrigan Aensland in appearances outside the Darkstalkers series.
- Felicia's original character design utilized what appeared to be a white headband that flowed from in front of her ears, around the back of her head, then around the front of her neck. Some later designs depicted it as a band of white fur that joined with her ears. There have been many fluctuations between the two designs over the years between different artists, games, and other sources.
- Felicia's eyes were originally green, but recent designs depict them as blue. The default color palette in Night Warriors portrays them as brown.
- The official comment concerning possible "Catmen" being unable to exist in the human realm has lead to the assumption that the Catpeople race originally comes from the Makai, though this has yet to be proven or disproven by Capcom.
- In almost any game in which Felicia is a playable charecter, excluding the Card games, Felicia has at minimum 2 "Super" attacks that have been with her from the first Darkstalkers game. Her rolling slash uppercut, whose name changes from game to game, and her one true constant attack called "Please Help me". Using this move causes some of felicias friends to grab onto her oppenent and rapidly pound on them for a few seconds, normally scoring about 30 hits or more.
