Fetch has several meanings:
- Fetch (geography), the length of water over which a given wind has blown.
- A game played between a human and a pet in which the human throws an object for the pet to "fetch" (catch and/or retrieve).
- A pipeline stage of a processor in computer architecture. It fetches instructions from a memory or CPU cache and feeds them to the rest of the instruction pipeline.
- Fetch (FTP client), a software FTP client for Mac OS X.
- A statement in some flavors of the SQL language. After a SELECT statement executes, you can use FETCH to sequentially retrieve one row at a time from the selected rows.
- A slang term meaning "awesome," used in the year 2004 by the movie Mean Girls. Presumably, it is a derivative of fetching. As in "Oh my god, Gretchen, those sequined flats are so totally fetch."
- A type of ghost that appears only before a person has died to fortell of their coming death.
- FETCH! with Ruff Ruffman, an animated/reality TV series.
