Fiachra Trench

Fiachra Trench is a musician and composer from Drogheda, County Louth in the Republic of Ireland.
Trench first studied music at Trinity College Dublin, before moving on to the University of Georgia in 1963, and then the University of Cincinnati. From 1969 until 1991 he lived and worked in London.
He is credited with the string arrangements on "Fairytale of New York" by The Pogues. Other artists he has worked with include Van Morrison, Elvis Costello, Art Garfunkel, Sinead O'Connor, The Corrs and Paul McCartney. He taught McCartney's late wife Linda to play the piano.
He has scored and composed music for a number of films including Pearl Harbour, The Boxer, The Tailor of Panama and The Ring. In 2006 he reworked Clint Mansell's "Lux Aeterna" for the 2006 AIB Ryder Cup advertising campaign.
