Figure 8 Island is an island in
North Carolina just north of
Wrightsville Beach with around 441 houses on it. It is surrounded on one side by the
intracoastal waterway and the other by the
Atlantic Ocean. It is a private island and the only way to get onto it is via a gated bridge. This has led it to be a popular destination for many celebrities and politicians. Former
Vice President Al Gore has rented a house there and
John Edwards owns a house on the island.
