Figure 8 racing is a form of racing that also combines elements of demolition derby. Racing is done on a track shaped like an 8. Because of this layout crashes are inevitable. The cars used are standard cars, but are usually modified for lightess and safety. A large scoop is often placed on the roof to increase downforce.
The best known figure 8 track in the US is Riverhead Raceway in Riverhead, New York.
