Fimbul Ice Shelf

Fimbul Ice Shelf () is an ice shelf about 120 miles long and 60 miles wide, nourished by Jutulstraumen Glacier, bordering the coast of Queen Maud Land from 3° W to 3° E. It was photographed from the air by the German Antarctic Expedition (1938-39), mapped by Norwegian cartographers from surveys and air photos by NBSAE (1949-52) and air photos by the Norwegian expedition (1958-59) and named Fimbulisen (the giant ice).
