Encyclopedia : F : FI : FIM : Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar

FH, in full Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar, is an Icelandic football club, playing in the town of Hafnarfjörður.

The team became slightly famous when they beat Scottish side Dunfermline in the qualifying rounds of the 2004/05 UEFA Cup 4-3 on aggregate. With the second leg in injury time and the aggregate score at 3-3, Dunfermline were set to go through on away goals. However, Tommy Neilsen scored in injury time to send the Icelandic part-timers into the first round. The team is the current Icelandic champion for the second year in a row after winning the division with 48 points out of 54. Tryggvi Guðmundsson became the league top-scorer with 16 goals in 17 games, followed by team mate Allan Borgvardt who scored 13 goals in 15 games. Borgvardt later joined Viking Stavanger, just before being elected player of the year in the Landsbankadeildin 2005 season. Few changes have been made on the 2005 champions squad. The fans favorite, Jón Þorgrímur Stefánsson has left the club to join his childhood club of HK Kópavogur. Coach Leifur Sigfinnur Garðarsson joined rivals Fylkir as manager. He was replaced by the former captain Heimir Guðjónsson, who retired in 2005. The club has also suffered from a major injury blow when the new skipper, Auðun Helgason was ruled out for 9 months in February, causing a huge problem for the manager for leading defender Sverrir Garðarsson is in doubt to return after his injury. Sigurvin Ólafsson, cousin of the former VfB Stuttgart star Ásgeir Sigurvinsson, has joined the club from rivals KR.
