Finale

Encyclopedia : F : FI : FIN : Finale

Finale is also the name of a popular score writing program.
A finale is a closing part, act or movement of a dramatic or musical composition, or more generally any event or procedure with a dramatically concluding effect. In a multi-movement instrumental composition such as a sonata or symphony, the last movement is labeled finale if it is in sonata form.

In a fireworks show, it is common practice in the U.S. to end with "The Grand Finale". That is, many more fireworks detonated simultaneously then were used throughout the rest of the show. This leaves the audience with no doubt that the show is at the end.

In television, after a show has had a long run with good ratings, it airs a final episode called a "finale."

In computer and video games, the finale often takes the form of a boss battle.
